CHEN PR faced both specific and company-wide challenges as a growing agency in need of highly reliable, yet flexible technology. CHEN PR needed technology that would permit its staff to access critical office resources from anywhere, at anytime to meet the fast-paced demands of its clients. These goals had to be met with an eye towards keeping costs reasonable, reliability high, and support constantly available.

Miller Systems created a strategic network plan for CHEN PR headquarters in the Boston area. This included implementing a file system architecture and robust backup plan for a network where most of the client machines are laptops that are often taken on the road by employees. Miller Systems also implemented a secure remote access solution so employees could easily access important files from home or hotel, and installed a web-enabled electronic mail interface for fast kiosk access when laptop access was not convenient. Furthermore, to ensure end to end security Miller Systems worked with users to protect their home cable and DSL connections using SOHO firewalls. Lastly, as part of an effort to track service levels and streamline client invoicing, Miller Systems implemented a 30-person TimeSlips billing system for CHEN PR, including custom reporting tools for time tracking and customer billing.
CHEN PR now enjoys a seamless work environment that can accommodate employees in the office, on the road, or working from home. Employees have the same full-fledged access to e-mail, calendaring, and files, whether they are connected via the office network, a home broadband connection or hotel dialup.
