Overview:

Miller Systems is seeking candidates for a business analyst with a background in web strategy and usability. This full time employee will work as an important member of our web design and development team.  While the role is very much a client-facing one, the majority of our work is done from our office in the heart of Boston's Back Bay.

The business analyst / web strategist plays a key role in ensuring that our clients ultimately achieve the maximum ROI on their projects, which are typically web sites, intranets, portals, and other browser based experiences.  The individual in this role works throughout the entire client engagement lifecycle, by creating and driving strategy; staying involved in the development cycle to maintain strategic integrity; and finally, working to optimize and improve experiences as time goes on.

Major Responsibilities/Requirements:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and conduct work sessions with client stakeholders to collaboratively define KPIs for the web experience
  • Analyze web behavior data to derive deeper understanding and insight into the effectiveness of experiences. This usually includes segmenting various groups/types of users, and increasingly, one-to-one analysis
  • Analyze web behavior data and contextualize that analysis as it pertains to KPIs and goals in the overall business. This often requires a broader, but integrated, view of multi-channel data points (SEO, SEM, Order history, offline campaigns, CRM, ERP, etc.)
  • Design and present strategies and action plans to measure, analyze, and optimize web experiences on an ongoing basis
  • Design scorecards and dashboards to streamline analysis and accelerate optimization efforts
  • Work with developers to define tagging specs for data collection so that reporting requirements can be met
  • Create and configure reports and dashboards using industry web analytics tools (WebTrends, Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.) and BI front ends (Excel, Access, Crystal Reports, etc.) for presentation and delivery to clients
  • Create BRDs and functional specifications, including assistance in the design/revision of wire frames and similar materials
  • Supervise QA efforts; develop test plans; supervise user acceptance testing

Education and Career Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Business Analysis experience
  • Minimum 2 years of Web Analytics experience
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of training, education and experience

Technology Skills and Experience

  • Advanced, demonstrable Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Demonstrable experience with industry standard web analytics tools (WebTrends, Google Analytics, or Omniture are preferred)
  • Demonstrable experience working with functional specification design and/or prototyping tools. (Microsoft Visio or similar tools).

Any of the following will push candidates to the top of the list:

  • Proficiency with BI tools (Crystal Reports, Business Objects, etc.)
  • Basic database query skills
  • Experience with Agile methodology and tools often used to facilitate it (Axure, LucidSpec, iRise, Protoshare, etc.)

General Skills, Qualities, and Qualifications

  • Ability to write clearly and unambiguously in English
  • Ability to present ideas publicly and persuasively in English
  • Analytical mind and the discipline to work with multiple objectives against tight time deadlines
  • Proficient in statistical methods/tools to leverage statistics in analysis
  • Experience in client services and conducting collaborative negotiations vis a vis business requirements; know how to conduct an interview
  • Comfortable working with ambiguous concepts/direction and distilling them into sound and succinct deliverables
  • Desire to work closely with business users, and the personality and diplomacy skills to work effectively with customers, without being passive or submissive
  • Possess a deep commitment to understanding business problems of the end-user; the ability to comfortably walk in their shoes
  • Ability to work closely with development staff to understand their needs and constraints without being fazed by the technology

Overview:

Miller Systems, a leading Web Development and IT Consulting firm located in Boston's Back Bay, is seeking candidates for web developers/designers with a concentration on front end development. This full time employee will work in a fast paced environment providing solutions as a member of our Web Development team. The right candidate will spend the majority of their time building and maintaining web sites, intranets, and extranets. The right candidate must have at least two to three years of front-end web development experience. Agency experience is preferred.

Major Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience building and maintaining web sites or Intranets / Extranets.
  • Sharp XHTML skills, and the ability to produce standard compliant web pages including XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, etc.
  • Standard website management skills, including a good understanding of version control (CVS, SVN, SourceSafe, etc.), FTP, and best practice techniques for keeping content intact during updates, staging/production environments, web server (IIS, Apache) configuration/management etc.
  • Production experience extracting content and creating assets from typical source applications including the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash) and Microsoft Office products.
  • A super-sharp eye for content. Close attention to detail.
  • Excellent cognitive thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills are a must.

Any of the following will push candidates to the top of the list:

  • CMS implementation experience with commercial or open-source frameworks
  • ColdFusion development experience is a major plus; other server-side development experience (ASP.net, JSP, PHP, etc.)are also considered valuable
  • Advanced JavaScript skills and experience with AJAX (including jQuery, Prototype and Scriptaculous libraries)
  • Quality Assurance experience, including the use of user-experience, web-oriented tools
  • Recent web analytics experience with current tools (Google Analytics,WebTrends, Omniture, etc.)

Overview:

Miller Systems is seeking candidates for a Web Development Engineer. The right candidate will spend their majority of time programming and supporting browser based applications, business objects, and databases for our growing client base from our office in Boston. The work will include maintenance and extension of some existing applications as well as ground-up development for new projects, including public web sites, integration with CMS, and portal related development projects.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, and a minimum of 2 years experience in the web development space is required:

Major Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience building and maintaining web applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in either .NET or Java development (.NET experience is preferred)
  • Expertise may be in C#, Java, VB.NET, and/or other technologies; the key is to have a strong programming background and an open mind about new technologies.
  • Ability to extend beyond the basics and write modular, reusable, scalable code Standard code and website management skills, including a good understanding of version control (CVS, SVN, SourceSafe, etc.).
  • Experience with multi-tier (dev/staging/production) environments - and respect for the disciplines and concepts behind them

Overview:

Miller Systems is seeking candidates for a Senior Web Developer with intense focus on advanced presentation layer technologies. This full time employee will work in a fast paced environment providing solutions as a key member of our Website development team from our office in Boston's Back Bay.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, be highly motivated, organized, and able to work effectively with teams. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, and at least two to three years of true web development experience is required (No WYSIWYG web designers, please). Additionally, some or all of the following technical skills are required:

Major Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • At least three solid years of experience designing and maintaining web sites and content templates. Advanced object oriented JavaScript coding skills, DHTML, and advanced HTML skills (style sheets, frames, tables, layers, etc.) are required. XML experience a major plus.
  • Advanced server side scripting skills (Experience of two or more of the following is required: ASP.NET, Cold Fusion, ASP, JSP, PERL, etc.)
  • Familiarity/competence with configuring and deploying sites using at least one enterprise- class Content Management System (ex: RedDot, Vignette, Interwoven, Documentum, Stellant, Percussion).
  • A comprehensive understanding of current Web browsers (Explorer, Mozilla/Gecko, Navigator, etc.), the different platforms they run on, and the importance of the differences and compatibility between them. A mastery of W3C standards such as the Document Object Model is required.
  • Some Macromedia Flash 5 Action Scripting required.
  • Good general design and layout skills; if you're right for this position you've probably built entire small sites on your own.
  • Proficiency in Adobe PhotoShop for production purposes; creative design skills are a plus but not required.
  • Information Architecture/content mapping experience (even if it’s been for small sites)
  • A super-sharp eye for content and superior verbal skills.
  • Standard website management skills, including a good understanding of revision control, FTP, and standard techniques for keeping content intact during updates.
  • Experience working in both Windows and Mac OS operating systems. (Expertise in both platforms is desirable; applicants with particular strength in one OS are urged to apply as well).
  • Any management or mentoring experience a major plus.
