Mac OS Desktop Admin / Support Specialist


Miller Systems, a leading Managed IT Services firm located in the heart of Boston, is seeking candidates for an IT Consultant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will specialize in Mac OSX (10.4+) desktop system administration and end user support.

Duties/Responsibilities: The candidate chosen for this position will perform desktop system administration duties along with help desk assistance and training to end users. Duties are performed both in person and remotely. Typical activities include:

  • Creating, updating, and deploying Mac OS systems using imaging / deployment tools
  • Performing audits on deployed systems for compliance with security and reliability standards
  • Participating in the design and implementation of Mac OS enterprise integration projects (in Microsoft / Active Directory centric environments)
  • Maintaining Mac OS desktop systems
  • Handling end user requests for assistance
  • Keeping support tickets and documentation up to date

Major Responsibilities/Requirements:

Education and Career Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years help desk experience in a Mac OS or heterogeneous Mac/Windows environment
  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or university or equivalent combination of training, education and experience
Technology Skills and Experience
  • Advanced skills and demonstrable experience in Mac OS X and Apple hardware, including system setup, troubleshooting, command line tools, permissions, and networking
  • Experience supporting common “core” applications typically found in Mac OS environments, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite / Creative Cloud
  • Experience with standard Mac OS management tools (if you are qualified, you know what they are)
  • Experience with at least one Mac OS system image group deployment tool
  • Solid fundamental basic understanding of TCP/IP v4 on both wired and wireless networks
Any of the following will push candidates to the top of the list:
  • One or more of the following OS X Certifications:
    1. Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP)
    2. Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC)
  • Demonstrable Mac OS X Server administration experience
  • Experience with one or more iOS MDM solution
  • Any recent (Windows 7 or higher) Microsoft desktop OS certification or equivalent recent Windows support experience
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office (Windows 2010 and later, Mac Office 2008 and later)
  • A thoughtful cover letter
